September 9, 2019 - Finally Made It!
What's up everyone? I'm finally made it to Florida and I'm so hyped. I flew out on Friday and I'm gonna skip talking about the days before that because they were super boring. But Friday we got in to Jacksonville at around 7, we met the mission president and his wife they are super awesome. We went to the mission home and had some food, and I think it was one of the best meals of my life, I was so hungry. Then we went to the AP's apartment to sleep for the night, let me tell you the bed was so much nicer than the mtc's beds. I slept so good and then they made us French toast it was sick. Then we went and had training and met our companions.
My companion is Elder Pace he is from Saint George and is super cool. He has been out for 10 months and has been in our area for 4 and a half months. He knows a lot and is teaching me a lot. We are in Julington Creek, it is like 20 min outside of Jacksonville. It's very interesting, the members are so awesome here but the area is super wealthy so most people that aren't members don't care about the gospel because they are so well off. So we don't talk to a lot of people but we focus more on working with the members. We get fed like every night by members. Also our area is only one of three areas that is full bike so yeah. But everything is pretty close so it's not a big deal.
Sunday was really good we had church at 1:30 then like a social meal after. I got to meet most of the people in the ward. Then this old lady called us, her name is Pat she is from Kentucky. Elder pace said she basically uses us for like cheap labor but it's really funny. We weeded her yard and I was sweating so much, she gave us some lemonade and we talked for a while. She has made it clear in the past that she doesn't want to take lessons or learn more about the church but she likes the missionaries, maybe because we clean up her yard lol. It was a super good opportunity to serve. Then we went and did come follow me with the Phillip's family. They are pretty funny, they have a boy that is 17, a girl who's 15 and another boy who's 13, and a cute little dog. They gave us rice crispy treats. Today we went cast net fishing in our backyard because there is a little pond and we caught tons of little fish it was hilarious. Well that's all, I really love it out here even though I swear anytime I go outside.
