May 25, 2020 - Apple Pie
This week has gone by fast, but slow at the same time? I don't really know it's weird. We had a lesson with our Chinese friend, and Elder Dobbs took the lesson because I don't know Mandarin obviously. But I could follow what was going on by facial expressions and the occasional Google translate sentence. I also heard really funny sentences that I thought was English like "Oreo is gourmet but sounds kinda hood" I was laughing pretty hard. But it was way good because we found she didn't understand any of the lessons the missionaries taught before because it was English. And we are going to help them move into their new house this week.
We also had the awesome opportunity to have Elder Bednar join us for a zoom call on last Friday, it was so cool to get to hear him in person for the THIRD time on my mission! Members have been so nice this week in bringing us dinner and two nights this week they have brought an apple pie for dessert! It has been so good, I don't know why but apple pie has never tasted better than this week. Also while I'm still on the topic of dessert, you know that cartoon show a while ago called Kick Buttowski? Well in there they always have frozen chocolate Bananas from a little ice cream truck and I always wanted to try them and I never got to... Until now lol. We melted some reeses peanut butter cups and covered a banana and froze them. They are so good and my dreams are now fulfilled.
Also I'm starting to learn the ukulele which is fun. Lastly here is a quote my Mission President shared this week “No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude and humility. All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable, more worthy to be called the children of God . . . and it is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire and which will make us more like our Father and Mother in heaven.” Orson F.
