July 12, 2021 - Arlington

What is up everybody, this is my second to last email ever. So crazy

This past week I was transferred to the Arlington area (which is literally the area above the other one) to be with Elder Shakespeare and Elder Kapele for my last 2 weeks. It has honestly been such a blessing and I couldnt be in a better situation to end my mission. I have served around both of them before and we are all good friends. It has been really great so far and the ward is awesome. We have so many great activities that we can invite people too. Kinda sad I didn't get called here earlier cause I would love to serve here.

I just wanted to share a thought from my week. So back in Hendricks we were working with a couple of less active and part member families and we saw lots of success with them. They each have been through a lot recently but have also seen lots of blessings, which should push them towards the gospel and coming back to church but that hasn't happened yet. It has been a little frustrating because I became close with both of them and I know that if they would just take a leap of faith they would be so blessed and it would improve their lives a lot.

I think it comes down to two things either fear or lazyness. I have definitely seen these affect my own ability to progress and I have learned on my mission that to overcome those all you need is trust. As you trust God, even though you can't see the outcome/light at the end of the tunnel, everything will turn into the best situation possible. This scripture in proverbs is amazing "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." (thanks Aunt Jer for sharing it with me a couple of weeks a go) I know this to be true, I know that as we trust God that we will end up very happy. He will direct and guide us no matter if its something like what to study in college, or what job to choose, where to live, what church is true. I promise all of you that he will answer all your questions and direct your life for the better as we trust him and act!

Love you all
Elder Barlow
